Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan instrumen penilaian daya juang yang mencakup dimensi jangkauan (reach) dan daya tahan (endurance), menguji validitas dan reliabilitasnya, serta mengetahui hasil penggunaannya. Penelitian menggunakan metode Research and Development. Validitas isi dianalisis dengan indeks Aiken (rata-rata 0,85), sedangkan validitas konstruk diuji melalui analisis faktor eksploratori. Reliabilitas dihitung menggunakan Alpha Cronbach. Uji coba dilakukan pada 120 responden (uji luas I) dan 200 responden (uji luas II). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa instrumen akhir terdiri dari 40 butir pernyataan berskala Likert 1–5. Validitas konstruk menghasilkan nilai KMO sebesar 0,889 dan membentuk 10 faktor baru setelah dua kali reduksi data. Instrumen memiliki reliabilitas sangat tinggi dengan Alpha Cronbach sebesar 0,934. Penilaian terhadap siswa SMA di Kabupaten Purworejo menunjukkan rata-rata skor 159,65 yang termasuk kategori tinggi. Simpulan, instrumen ini valid dan reliabel untuk mengukur daya juang siswa pada dua dimensi utama.A new instrument to measure endurance: Validation of reach and endurance dimensionsAbstract: This study aims to develop an assessment instrument for measuring grit in terms of two dimensions: reach and endurance; to determine its validity and reliability; and to examine its application. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) design. Content validity was analyzed using Aiken’s V (average = 0.85), construct validity was assessed through factor analysis, and reliability was measured using Cronbach’s Alpha. The instrument was tested on 120 students in the first large-scale trial and 200 students in the second. The final product consists of 40 Likert-scale items (1–5). Construct validity yielded a KMO value of 0.889 and resulted in 10 new factors after two stages of data reduction. The reliability index was high, with Cronbach’s Alpha at 0.934. The average grit score among students in Purworejo senior high schools was 159.65, categorized as high. In conclusion, the instrument is valid and reliable for assessing students’ grit in both dimensions.
