Hydration intervention during physical training on body electrolyte levels in futsal players
Abstract: The purpose of this study was to compare the hydration interventions of isotonic drinks of coconut water and ORS, which are effective in replenishing fluids in the body from dehydration caused during strenuous physical exercise. An experimental approach through cross-over design is by giving treatment of giving ORS and coconut water during physical exercise on blood electrolyte levels. The participants in this study were all 18 members of the Surabaya State University Futsal team. Data analysis measured the mean values (blood levels of sodium, chloride, and potassium) reported as mean ± SD. ANOVA analysis followed by Bonferroni post hoc comparison was used to determine significant differences between the results obtained in different games. The statistical significance procedure was p≤0.05. with the statistical aid of SPSS 26.0. The results showed that administering two types of ORS and coconut water had an effect, but not a significant effect on mineral water. Meanwhile, the nutrient content in ORS is better for restoring blood electrolyte levels after exercise than coconut water. By identifying the electrolyte content in the bloodstream after each use, people can conclude that ORS has a better effect on restoring sodium and chloride levels in the blood, and coconut water has a better effect on potassium levels in the blood.
