Penerapan media picture series untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan menulis teks narrative siswa sekolah menengah pertama

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana penerapan media picture series  untuk meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan menulis teks narrative bahasa Inggris di kelas IX D SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. Penelitian tindakan kelas ini  dilaksanakan dalam 2 siklus, yang terdiri atas empat tahapan, yaitu, (1). BKOF; (2) MOT; (3) JCOT; (4) ICOT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah siklus 1 rata-rata motivasi mencapai 93,97 dan pada siklus 2 menjadi 96,10 dari 88,60.  Persentase peserta didik yang mempunyai motivasi dengan kategori tinggi pada pra siklus, siklus 1, dan siklus 2 adalah 35,00%, 54,0%, dam 87,10%. Rata-rata hasil keterampilan menulis pada pra siklus, siklus 1 dan 2 sebesar 55,. 68,00 dan 75,17. Ketuntasan klasikal keterampilan menulis pada pra siklus, siklus 1 dan 2 adalah 35%, 54,80% dan 80,00. Kesimpulan penerapan media picture series  terbukti efektif  meningkatkan motivasi dan keterampilan menulis teks narrative bahasa Inggris peserta didik kelas IX D SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak tahun pelajaran 2017/2018. 

 

Application of picture series media to improve motivation and writing skills of junior high school students' narrative texts

 

Abstract: The research aims to know how the application of picture series improves English narrative text's motivation and writing skills in class IX D SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak, the academic year 2017/2018. This classroom action research was carried out in two cycles that consisted of 4 meetings. There were four stages in implementing the picture series, (1) BKOF; (2) MOT; (3) JCOT; (4) ICOT.  The result of the research, the average motivation in the pra cycle reached 88.60, but after the first cycle, it reached 93.97and in the second cycle, it was 96.10. There were 25 students (80,60%) who gained the high category of motivation. The average writing skill of learners on the pra cycle was 55. In cycle one was 68.00, but in cycle two was 75.17. The classical accomplishment on the pra cycle, cycle 1, and cycle 2 was 35%. 54.80% and 80.00%, and the average was 22.5%. The conclusion of the application of picture series is effective in improving the motivation and writing skills of class  IX D students  of  SMP Negeri 2 Ngemplak
